Sustainability and climate protection
When is an insulation material sustainable? If it is made of natural products? Or if it fulfils its insulation task reliably and for a long time? Climate protection is basically a calculation of how much energy an insulation material can save and effectively help to reduce the creation of CO2. Thanks to its excellent insulation values, construction foam saves much more energy in a very short time than was needed for its own production. And all this combined with a life-span of more than 30 years.
Saving CO 2 with construction foam
The building sector is responsible for almost 40 percent of the energy consumed in Germany. Private households require 85% of the energy for heating and hot water alone - there is a huge saving potential here. Anyone who reduces energy consumption by insulating their building is making an active contribution to protecting the environment because this automatically reduces carbon dioxide emissions (CO2). Today, high-performance insulation materials help to effectively protect the atmosphere; however, it is important here to ensure that all joints in the outer shell of the building are sealed and insulated efficiently. Whether you need to replace an old window or insulate the roof, walls, floor or the ceiling with thermal insulation composite systems (WDVS): PU foam from the can is needed to seal and insulate the joints. This prevents heat from escaping later and house owners can actually make energy profits. This is good for your purse and the environment, too.
A recycling rate of more than 95%
Throughout its long life, PU foam reduces the need for heat and cooling energy, and therefore also PU-CO2 emissions. It therefore contributes to the principle of sustainability. However the sustainability of a construction material also depends on the extent to which it can be used after it has been applied. Hardened construction foam can be easily used to generate energy; in fact, it gives as much energy back as is required for its production. There is a nationwide return and recycling system in place for PU foam cans that recycles spent cans at a rate of over 95%; 80% of which in materials.
